Building fire - FDNY Fire trucks responding and on scene

FDNY fire trucks responding with air horn, siren and lights and on scene of a 3rd alarm fire with firefighters in action at a structure fire that broke out next to a fire station on 19th St, Chelsea, Manhattan, New York City, New York (NY), United States of America (USA).

At approximately 3pm on Christmas Day - the 25th December 2017, a fire broke out in the top floor of a six story residential building on West 19th St near 7th Avenue, next to the fire house of Engine 3, Tower Ladder 12 & Battalion 7.

The fire forced a dozen families out onto the street into the cold, before sheltering for warmth in a nearby Duane Reade whilst 140 firefighters and first responders tackled the blaze which had spread into the roof of the building, and treated a firefighter and family for smoke inhalation and other minor injuries.

The fire was caused by unattended candles but a smoke alarm was present to alert the occupants.

As always fantastic job to the first responders for their prompt response, alerting the residents, their work to stop the fire spreading, minimise damage and treat the injured.
