Bausatzbesprechung: Alexandros Models "römischer Legionär, Harzhorn 235/36 n. Chr." im Maßstab 54mm

Mit der Schlacht am Harzhorn beschäftige ich mich schon längere Zeit, da ist es nur natürlich sich damit über kurz oder lang auch modellbauerisch auseinanderzusetzen.
Leider gab es bisher nur wenige Figuren zu diesem Thema, die noch dazu sehr selten waren, aber der spanische Hersteller Alexandros Models hat sich der Sache mit zwei Figuren angenommen, von denen ich euch eine in diesem Video näher vorstelle.
Die Resinfigur stellt einen vorgehenden Legionär der XXX. (30.) Legion "Ulpia Victrix Pia Fidelis" dar. Die Ausrüstungsgegenstände sind sehr gut recherchiert und dargestellt, sie basieren auf tatsächlichen archäologischen Funden aus dieser Epoche.
Die Anzahl der Bauteile ist für so eine kleine Figur recht hoch, aber das erlaubt einen rundherum tollen Detailgrad. Vor allem das Gesicht und das Kettenhemd haben es mir sehr angetan. Etwas Kopfzerbrechen bereiten mir nur die Lanze und die Pfeile, die ebenfalls aus Resin gefertigt sind und erwartungsgemäß nicht in gerader Form bleiben. Das zeigt uns auch die Grenzen von Resin als Material für Figuren auf.
Trotzdem bin ich von der Figur begeistert, auch wenn der hohe Preis von ca. 32€ den potenziellen Käufer durchaus schlucken lässt. Bei solchen Figuren aus Kleinserienproduktion muss man stets mit hohen Preisen rechnen.

I have a deep interest in the Battle at the Harzhorn for quite some time already, so it is only logical that i would deal with it as a scale modeller sooner or later.
Unfortunately there were not many figures around that would fit this subject, the ones that were available tended to be very rare, but the Spanish brand Alexandros Models decided to take care of this with two figures, one of those i will show you in detail in this video.
The resin figure depicts an advancing legionary of the XXX. (30th) Legion "Ulpia Victrix Pia Fidelis". The equipment is very well researched and is based on actual archaeological findings of this time period.
The part count is pretty high for such a small figure, but this ensures a very good level of detail all around. I am especially fond of the face and the mail armor. I am only concerned about the lance and the arrows, which are also made out of resin and don´t maintain a straight shape as expected. This shows us the limitations of resin as a material for figures.
Despite that i am very thrilled about this figure, even though the high price tag of about 32€ reduces the excitement of the potential buyer quite a bit. One has to expect such a high price for small scale production figures though.

The Battle at the Harzhorn took place in the early 3rd century between Germanic and Roman troops near the Harzhorn hill between the towns of Kalefeld and Bad Gandersheim, in the state of Lower Saxony, Germany.
The battlefield, spanning several square kilometers, was discovered in December 2008 and is currently being excavated. Roman coinage found at the site gives a probable date of the battle during the reign of one of two Roman emperors: Severus Alexander (222–235) or Maximinus Thrax (235–38).
Archaeologists view the battlefield as a discovery of extraordinary scientific importance. Along with the Kalkriese battlefield and the Roman camps of Bentumersiel and Hedemünden, this is one of the very few Roman archaeological sites in northern Germany.
