Nearly two years after an unprovoked murder at Toronto’s Keele subway station, the killer is set to find out his sentence.
Jordan O’Brien-Tobin pleaded guilty to second-degree murder, which means a life sentence. But the judge must decide on a period of parole ineligibility between 10 to 25 years. Regardless of the decision, the Crown it should be a long time, arguing its a matter of public safety.
Assistant Crown attorney Karen Simon said the attack occurred during a period of increased violence on the TTC and left those using public transit in the city wondering: ‘Am I next?’
