Przychodzimy, odchodzimy,
Leciuteńko, na paluszkach,
Szczotkujemy, wycieramy,
Buty nasze, twarze nasze,
Żeby śladów nie zostawiać
Żeby śladu nie zostało.

Miasta nasze, domy nasze
Na uwięzi się kołyszą
Tuż nad ziemią, ledwo, ledwo,
Jak wiatr mały, to nie widać.

A jak wielki wiatr się zdarzy,
Wilka bieda: puszczą cumy,
Zatrzepoczą się, zatańczą
Miasta nasze, domy nasze
I ulecą. W stratosferę.

Przygarbionych w pustym polu,
Bez oparcia, bez osłony,
Bez niteczki choćby, co by
Przytwierdzała nas do ziemi,
Wiatr nas porwie i poniesie
Za kołnierze podniesione,
Porozrzuca. Gdzieś w przestrzeni.

Nam to nic. My przeczekamy.
Jak się skończy, jak ucichnie,
To wstaniemy, otrzepiemy
Dłonie nasze, klapy nasze,
Żeby śladu nie zostało;
Od początku zbudujemy
Miasta nasze, domy nasze
Sprzęty nasze lampy nasze,
Żeby wiatr miał czym kołysać.

We arrive and we are leaving,
Very lightly, on our tiptoes.
We are brushing, we are wiping
Our shoes and our faces
So they leave no sign there,
And leave no trace there.

Our cities, our houses,
Tethered, they keep swaying
Just above ground, just a little
If there's no wind, you can't see it.

And if some great wind did happen
A great misfortune: moorings cleared,
They would flap, they would dance,
Our cities, our houses.
And they will fly to the stratosphere.

And us hunched and left abandoned
With no support, unprotected,
With no threat, that at least a little
Would attach us to the ground.
The wind will blow and carry us
Grabbed by our lifted collars
And will spread us in some space.

For us - nothing. We'll hold up
Till it's over, till it's quiet.
Then we'll get up and we'll brush off
Our hands and our lapels
So there's no trace left behind.

From the start point we'll rebuild
Our cities, our houses,
Our housewares, our lightings
So the wind may keep them swaying.
