November 6, 2025 - The Prescott City Council voted 5-2 Tuesday, November 4, to reverse the Prescott Preservation Commission’s recommendation to deny the proposal of the Prescott Plaza Hotel on Whiskey Row. The two opposing votes came from Mayor Phil Goode and Councilmember Lois Fruhwirth. This project has seen heavy opposition from residents of Prescott due to concerns about the size of the proposed 47-room, four-floor hotel and its place in the historic downtown district, and other parking and traffic concerns the hotel could bring. The preservation commission voted to deny the proposal on October 20. The hotel project has been denied before, due to the demolition of several downtown buildings and the size of the building being over the city’s 48-foot height limit.
