The crossbow is a handweapon and it was used by aristocracy for hunting. It has several advantages against the firearms: unlike a gun, the crossbow is nearly silent, more accurate and doesnt require special cleaning processes. It has been a relevant weapon in hunting since the 19th century.
My crossbow is a 100% traditional, renaissance time Central-European crossbow replica, whitch was made last year. There is a cranequin, which belongs to the crossbow. It is used for spanning the weapon, because it is impossible to pull the string back using only our hands.
