If you had to guess, where would you put the headwaters of the mighty Columbia River? If you guessed Canada, you'd be correct. Located southern British Columbia, the river wasn't followed from headwaters to mouth by explorers until 1811!
Fed by rain, ice, and snowmelt, the Columbia provides fresh water for consumption and irrigation to millions of acres of farmland in the Pacific Northwest, as well as salmon habitat and hydroelectric power. But in the face of a changing climate, will the river continue to provide?
