The two biggest gripes V.C. Andrews fans have always had with the 1987 film version of "Flowers in the Attic" are the diminished incest angle that made the novel so immensely popular, and, second, the changed ending in which Corrine Foxworth gets her just deserts by accidentally hanging herself by her wedding dress from a balcony trellis -- thus, also diminishing any possibilities for possible sequels based on the rest of the books in the series.
With a little of editorial magic, I've managed to put together an alternative ending that is faithful to the ending of the novel, which means it's open for further continuation of the story.
Plus, visit this website and read what was director Jeffrey Bloom's original vision of the film and what was his original ending like, before quitting the production after serious creative differences with the producers. The "hanged mother" ending was filmed after his departure.
