Most musicians don’t hate money, they fear it.
For years, I believed the idea that real artists are supposed to struggle, that wanting money somehow made you less creative or less authentic. And that belief quietly held me back longer than I want to admit.
In this video, I talk about why money isn’t the enemy of art, it’s a tool. A creative tool.
When you understand money differently, everything changes:
• You can pay musicians fairly
• You can record without rushing
• You can invest in marketing, visuals, and documentation
• You can build projects that last instead of just surviving gig to gig
Money doesn’t replace creativity, it protects it.
I share how my relationship with money has evolved over the last 15 years, how I use it to grow creative projects like Mod Society, and why the “struggling artist” narrative is one we need to let go of.
