Winter in Breckenridge, Colorado | Sapphire Point Overlook | Free Gondola Ride | Isak Hearstone

We spent Christmas week exploring Breckenridge, Colorado, and it truly felt like a winter postcard. From the scenic drive through snow-covered mountains to unexpected stops along the way, every moment was filled with breathtaking views.

One of our favorite stops was Sapphire Point Overlook, a short and easy walk with stunning panoramic views of Dillon Reservoir, surrounded by mountain ranges blanketed in snow. It was the perfect place to pause, take photos, and soak in Colorado’s winter beauty.

In Breckenridge, we took the free BreckConnect gondola up to Peak 8, where we quickly realized just how busy the town gets during the holidays — long lines and packed restaurants are definitely something to expect. After heading back down, we walked around town to find lunch and enjoyed the charm of this historic mountain town despite the crowds.

We also made a short hike to see Isak Heartstone, the famous wooden troll, and continued exploring the town, surrounded by mountains and crisp alpine air. Breckenridge during Christmas is busy, beautiful, and unforgettable.
