Hoop City documents the rise of Southampton, a port city on the South coast of England, as one of the UK’s leading basketball cities. Former Solent Kestrels player and England U18 member Christopher Amedu highlights and celebrates the key characters and figures who have contributed to making Southampton the basketball success it is today. The aim of the documentary is to show what impact the game has had on Southampton and the importance of basketball on young people’s lives. In doing so, the documentary also aims to showcase the game of basketball as a positive tool for social change for young people, encouraging organisations to invest in basketball.
