Urk 🇾🇪 Dutch old fishing village | Cinematic 4K Video

Urk was an island in the Zuiderzee until 1939. Although Urk is no longer an island, the typical character of Urk has been preserved. The former island in the Zuiderzee has a rich history. The old village, a maze of streets, exudes atmosphere. Urk has a beautiful old harbour, the lighthouse and of course the freshest fish, straight from the fish auction.

08:13 Fishermen's monument....This monument was erected in memory of the fishermen of Urk who perished in the waves. Statue of a fisherwoman who looks back at the sea one more time, from where her beloved should have come.
Around the statue are 35 marble slabs with the names of the Urk fishermen who drowned at sea.
09:41 Right next to Urk, the tulip fields are blooming again in the spring. Flevoland has the largest flower bulb area in the Netherlands. Especially in the Noordoostpolder you will find beautiful tulip fields here.
