A rainy and windy autumn afternoon at Trout Lake turned into a pretty goog geocaching day.
I went out to find several geocaches hidden around John Hendry Park in East Vancouver, including a tricky one that almost became a DNF. Along the way I caught a surprise rainbow over Trout Lake. 🌈
This park is a well-loved community space in East Van, home to festivals, farmers markets, and the Trout Lake Community Centre. Just a few days after this cache run, that same community centre became the venue for one of the GIFF 2025 events here in Metro Vancouver. If you’re into geocaching or exploring urban parks in Vancouver, this one’s for you.
🧭 What is GIFF?
The Geocaching International Film Festival is a global event that takes place every two years. Geocachers gather to watch short films created by other geocachers. It’s all about creativity, storytelling, and celebrating the joy of the hobby.
If you attended a GIFF 2025 event this year, let me know where you went and what you thought of the films.

I’ve also uploaded my Richmond GIFF video, where I track down a DNF the next day — check it out!
Thanks for watching , and happy caching!
