A bit of heavy microtonal / xenharmonic classical inspired by the 1960 horror film Jigoku and the Buddhist wheel of Samsara. This is part of a planned cycle based around the different realms of rebirth; I am currently hard at work on a piece about hungry ghosts. For the visual component of this presentation, I used Blender 4.5 and took inspiration from the paintings of Hieronymus Bosch and Hellraiser, as well as the aforementioned Japanese horror film. I even added Hellraiser's famous "Jesus Wept" audio to the introduction.
I've always been fascinated by the link between classical music and heavy metal. When I was a teenager, I discovered Shostakovich and realized that classical can basically be heavy metal with different instrumentation. Usually when the two genres get mixed, it is metal pulling in elements of classical. I took the opposite approach for this piece and pulled metal into classical. This piece uses 23-limit just intonation.
