During a longer engagement at L.A.´s Palomar Ballroom (the same which famously burnt down a year later during a gig by Charlie Barnet and his orchestra), Tommy Dorsey and his cats recorded this red hot killer tune on July 25, 1938 at the RCA Studios at Hollywood. According to their tour diary, the same night they were already back at Palomar Ballroom in order to play two radio broadcast sets from 9:00 pm to 11:15 pm...
Personnel: Tommy Dorsey, Earl Hagen, Les Jenkins, trombones; George Irwin, Lee Castaldo, Andy Ferretti, trumpets; Johnny Mince, Hymie Schertzer, Fred Stulce, Dean Kincaide, Skeets Herfurt, reeds; Howard Smith, piano; Carmen Mastren, guitar; Gene Traxler, bass; Maurice Purtill, drums.
Enjoy!
