Toyota Kluger Hybrid 2025 review: Is this 7-seat family SUV competitive with new Hyundai Santa Fe?

The 2025 Toyota Kluger Hybrid is now a stalwart in the large SUV segment, with the fourth-generation model having been around in Australia since June 2021, although its reveal as the US-market Highlander can be traced all the way back to April 2019. Point being, it's getting old in automotive terms.

Of course, the Kluger range recently made the move to hybrid-only, with the short-lived 2.4-litre turbo-petrol four-cylinder engine axed in a sign of the times. That means, the seven-seat family car can now only be had with a 'self-charging' series-parallel petrol-electric hybrid system, which is becoming an increasingly common powertrain in this segment, as evidenced by the recently launched Hyundai Santa Fe.
