"Helmets of Hollywood" is a new series here on the "Brass Hat Diver" channel, where we'll be taking a look at dive scenes in old Hollywood movies and picking apart the gear they used and find out a little bit more about it!
Our first film is the 1920 silent film starring Harry Houdini, " Terror Island." This movie is about a submarine inventor who gets involved in the search of a sunken treasure and the rescue of a young woman's father from cannibals.
The dive gear featured in this film belonged to the famous Californian diver, Edmond F. Defever, who is also the diver in this film. The helmet is a three light A J Morse & Son neck fed from the turn of the century and the pump is a three cylinder Alfred Hale, which was the company's most popular pump they produced.
