After having just exited Lock 6, the Algoma Intrepid passes under the Glendale Avenue Bridge in the Welland Canal, as she heads towards Lock 7. On this voyage she was taking a load of sand which was loaded in Brevort, MI, to Hamilton, ON.
Launched in 2020, the Intrepid, along with her sister ship the Algoma Innovator are the only two Equinox Class vessels that were built in the smaller "river class" 650' length. Along with the 740' Algoma Endeavor, they are the only members of the Equinox class that weren't built in China, rather they were built at the 3. Maj shipyard, located in Rijeka, Croatia.
The Glendale Avenue Bridge, also known as Welland Canal Bridge 5 was built in the 1920's utilizing Parker through truss construction. The century old bridge is one of only 3 vertical lift bridges in use on the Welland Canal. The other bridges are all of the jackknife style.
Recorded on November 24th, 2025.
