Who said you need a GriGri for a R.A.D. system? My friend Devon and I tested the Edelrid Mega Jul and the Petzl Tibloc as the world's lightest rapid-ascent-descent system. The Tibloc serves in place of a hand ascender, the Mega Jul replaces the GriGri, and the whole system works on a 9mm climbing line!

WARNING: Never let go of your belay hand when using the Mega Jul in guide mode. Edelrid states this in the product description and I personally had it slip on the rope a few inches while ascending. BE CAREFUL!
