The Rio Grande e Mindanao River the longest river in Mindanao, as we traverse from the port of Taviran, Datu Odin Sinsuat, to the Dulawan bridge in Datu Piang, Maguindanao.
The second largest river system in the Philippines. It is found in the southern island of Mindanao. It serve as an essential transportation artery of goods from the inland Li guasan Marsh. Its headwater are in the mountains of Bukidnon and Misamis Oriental. It then drains into the Maguindanao province traversing the municipalities of Datu Montawal, Pagalungan, Rajah Buayan, Mamasapano, Datu Piang, Kabuntalan, Datu Odin Sinsuat and Sultan Kudarat before it finally flows towards the Illana Bay of Cotabato City.
The river is heavily silted. you can observe from the color of the water which is heavy brown. according to the locals living along the Rio Grande river, the water used to be very clear and is a rich source of different species of fishes.
