(AF447/AFR447) was a scheduled passenger flight from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil to Paris, France, which ed on 1 June 2009. The , operated by , entered an from which it did not recover and ed into the Atlantic Ocean at 02:14 UTC, killing all 228 passengers, aircrew and cabin crew aboard the aircraft. No commercial airplane since then that was ruled accidental and not criminal has surpassed that death toll, though before 2009, there had been deadlier incidents of this type.
