"The Valley of Heart's Delight"

Coyote Valley has hosted the stories of so many. From indigenous families who cared for all of the living inhabitants of the valley for thousands of years to those who now tend to the orchards and tirelessly work with the land. So many overlapping stories of resilience over industrial domination and hard work in the face of difficult odds. This movement is an ode to the laborers who seek to know Coyote Valley for who she has always been.

Commissioned by the Open Space Authority from composer William Rand, “Coyote Valley Suite” features five short instrumental works that carry the listener through the protected landscapes of Coyote Valley, one of the last largely undeveloped valley floors in the South Bay.

This unique artistic project invites people everywhere to connect with and be inspired by the majesty of the Coyote Valley landscapes and to reflect on the many benefits that result from conserving the natural environment for all.

“Coyote Valley Suite” consists of five short works that can be accessed online for listening or viewing, individually or as a playlist. They can also be downloaded for remote access.
