During a visit to a London health centre, Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer staunchly defended his decision to bar Greater Manchester Mayor Andy Burnham from seeking a Westminster seat, saying it would ‘divert resources’ from Labour’s May election campaigns.
He insisted the ‘battle of our times’ is between Labour and Reform, not an internal war, even as a backbench and grassroots backlash grew over the move to stop Mr Burnham standing in the Gorton and Denton by-election.
