This is an abridgement of Wagner's "Ring of the Nibelung", which was recorded by HMV between 1922 and 1923. This set of extended excerpts was sung in Frederick Jameson's English translation, and consisted of twenty-six sides, seventeen of which were conducted by Albert Coates, seven by Eugene Goossens, and two by Percy Pitt.

Unfortunately, this video is missing the following five sides: "Siegfried follows the forest bird", "The parting of Brünnhilde and Siegfried: part 1", "The parting of Brünnhilde and Siegfried: part 2", "Rhinemaidens' scene" and "Brünnhilde kindles the funeral pyre: part 1".

"Der Ring des Nibelungen" ("The Ring of the Nibelung") is a cycle of four operas by Richard Wagner, with German libretti by the composer. The four works are, in sequence: "Das Rheingold" ("The Rhinegold"), "Die Walküre" ("The Valkyrie"), "Siegfried", and "Götterdämmerung" ("Twilight of the Gods"). The complete cycle was first performed at the Bayreuth Festival Theatre in 1876.
