American has 218 Airbus A321-200 aircraft in the fleet with two different configurations. American's Transcontinental configuration, known as the A321T, consists of 16 ultra premium aircraft. These 16 planes are configured in a 3 class layout for transcon flights from New York JFK to LAX, SFO, and SNA as well as BOS-LAX. All Legacy American A321 have Sharklets and are powered by the IAE V2533-A5 engines. American is the largest operator of the IAE V2500 engine and the largest operator of Airbus aircraft in the World.
The A321T has 10 Safran Cirrus Flagship First Class Suites in a 1-1 layout. 20 Collins Aerospace Diamond Flagship Business Class seats in a 2-2 layout. And 36 Main Cabin and 36 Main Cabin Extra seats. This fleet type has ViaSat high speed satellite Wi-Fi, seatback screens with Live TV, and power ports at every seat.
The A321T product will soon retire as American introduces the A321XLR in 2024
