All hail the Queen of Memphis Soul! Carla Thomas was one of the first breakout stars at Stax, and one of the biggest names in soul. She holds the distinction of being the fist artist to cut a record at the Stax Records studio at 926 E. McLemore Avenue. She actually recorded that song with her famous father, Rufus Thomas, at the age of 17. The duet, "Cause I Love You," became a regional hit and changed the course of music history forever.

Love Means is Carla Thomas’ sixth studio album - released in 1971. In this album, she shies away from her usual romantic, and soulful, ballads and instead enters a more introspective and reflective tone pop-influenced sound. This shift can be heard in songs like “Are You Sure”.
