NOTICE: Salaam, a correction at 2:44. It is makruh tanzihan (minor dislike) NOT makruh tahriman (major dislike) to leave the top of the hat exposed when wearing an Imamah/turban.
It is only Makruh Tahrimi when wearing an Imamah in such a way that the centre of the head is bare or when there is no hat beneath.

I'tijaar is severely disliked, which is to wear a Imamah/turban in such a way that the head is bare in the centre as mentioned in Nur al-Idah. Bahaar e Shariat mentions the same -
Fatawa Amjadiyah jild 1, page 399 says "The lay-people seem to understand that i'tijaar can occur while wearing a hat but the researched opinion is that i'tijaar is in that state when there is nothing below the imamah to cover the head."
