Handmade paper making technique from Madagascar: Papier Antaimore

Papier Antaimore is the special #technique of #paper making from a very unique plant that only grows in the South of Madagascar.
The plant is called Avoha (Gnidia daphnifolia) and in the past it’s bark was used for clothes making. The fiber of soften properly can be spun and woven.
Supposedly Arabs brought the #papermaking technique on the island as they needed the medium to rewrite #holyquran
Malagasy #craftsmen use #freshflowers to #decorate the paper and this makes it so #unique

Getting there is complicated and not many tourists can make it. The owner of the #paperfactory moved from #antaimoro to the more touristy #ambalavao to share this #magnificent #handicraft with the world.
