There are two trains in this video. Both have been fitted with close couplings.
The diesel in the first scene is leaving the platform to run over the complex point work at the southern end of the Main Station.
The coaches are all Bachmann. These coaches have a mechanism on the bogies which increases the gap between it and the next one as it traverses a bend. The mechanism works very well, but with standard couplings there is still quite a large gap.
The standard couplings have been replaced with one Hornby Close Coupler (R8220) at one end and the Roco version (40271) at the other. They are pretty tight to get them to engage but once together the coaches are almost touching with virtually no gap on straight track gently expanding on curves.
The train traverses over six points and four diamond crossings in this video to illustrate just how good this looks. All the points are Peco medium or large radius. (I don't think this combination would work in small radius or Hornby points).
In the second scene the 37 is moving a coal train from the arrival/despatch road on the Lower Marshalling across the ladder to a loop next to the station.
All the wagons in this train have been fitted with 3 link prototype couplings (Smiths LP4 Standard) giving correct spacing between them. The train with its twenty three wagons crosses eleven points on this move.
