According to a belief of Hindus, a human, after crossing 80 years, is considered a form of God. Thus, Chaurasi Puja or the ceremonial worship is generally conducted at the age of 84, which is one of the unique traditions in the Nepalese society where an elderly person is celebrated and worshipped as a mortal god.
Chaurasi at the time of puja, the family of the house, the family of brothers and sisters and the friends of the village help to prepare the necessary materials for the puja. 84 At the time of puja, a person who has reached 84 years of age gives his sister's son, who is called a nephew. Nephew is made Ganapati and seated. Similarly, Pandits worship together. The Pandit recites the rituals and rules and conducts the puja. Along with this another Karta joins in the worship and puts the Shaligram in the middle of the copper pot and pours jal ( water) from the jal ( water ) stream from above and worships. Chaurasi dishes are prepared in Chaurasi pujas. Seven Brahmins are organized to recite Rudra. In Chaurasi pujas garlands and new clothes are worn like in weddings. Chaurasi those invited to the puja prepare food and take it as prasad. On this day, those who come for puja are blessed by Chaurasi persons.
After the Chaurasi Puja, in the evening, the hymns of God Hare Ram! Hare Krishna!! are sung. The Chaurasi Puja and hymns are sung by the Basghari Devi Bhajan Kirtan Group at Tilottama-6, Basghari, Pachaim. The Chaurasi Puja was performed on 21st of Asoj, 2082, in the name of Shri Lilaballabh Kafle Buba.
