The Elevated Push-up is THE best way to progress towards proper ground push-ups that you can see how to do here: https://justexercisevideos.com/exerci...
There are other ways to progress towards a push-up like knee push-ups or band-assisted push-ups.
However, knee push-ups can orient your shoulders and arms in an undesirable position and band-assisted push-ups can be very uncomfortable to get in and out of.
In the video I use a wall-mounted foldable squat rack, but you can use anything that is stable such as a plyometric box, a counter top, or a coffee table as long as it won't slide.
The idea is that you can setup just like you would with a normal push-up, except you take more weight off your hands the higher up you start.
This allows you to develop strength in the full push-up position as you progress towards the floor.
Develop strength in your triceps, upper back, glutes, and core with the elevated push-up.
Create and maintain tension by driving the heels down and "bending the bar" with your hands.
Be sure to use a deep belly breath at the beginning of each repetition.
Keep your upper arms tight to your ribcage and make sure your elbows stay inline with the wrists - avoid dropping the elbows below the wrists.
Wrists should be straight and not bent.
Allow your head to stay neutral - do not look up or tilt your head up.
Over time, work your way towards performing perfect push-ups on the ground.
