Welcome to our first episode of our chasing waterfalls series where we take you to the best waterfalls close to Victoria BC on Vancouver Island. Our first destination is Niagara Falls in Goldstream Provincial Park about a 25 minute drive outside of downtown Victoria. It is also possible to take a bus from downtown Victoria all the way out to Goldstream. That trip with transfers will take you almost 2 hours if you have the time. If you choose to go later in the day, after 3 pm, expect rush hour traffic as it leaves the city as well.

The hike itself is super easy 1.3 km round trip. When I say super easy, I wouldn't take aging parents who struggle with balance and I wouldn't say it is wheelchair accessible, but I think most people will be able to handle this short hike. It is mostly flat trails and in dry season you can walk along the stones of the river bed without any elevation like we did today. You walk under the highway through the tunnel

The falls look incredibly different depending on the season. We have just come out of our driest month of the year, July. I can only remember one day of rain in the last few months. We will come back and show you Niagara Falls in the winter and you will see that the river bed we walked across will be completely filled with water and we will have to walk along the side path.
