Join Bob Jones, Licensed Massage Therapist and Certified Meditation Coach from Shen Shen Health & Harmony in Chicago, IL for a live weekly drop-in mindfulness meditation. Each session will last roughly 40 minutes, with 20-25 minutes of sitting meditation.
As an adult diagnosed with ADHD (Inattentive), I've found that a daily Meditation practice is helpful in managing the barrage of external stimuli I deal with while living in a large city in the 21st century. I am also in therapy and take medication to manage my ADHD symptoms, and Meditation is an integral part of my treatment. Mediation is also an essential exercise within my larger Mindfulness practice.
My Mindfulness practice is broader than just sitting. More than just a mental health buzzword, Mindfulness allows me to get out of my head (which is generally full of racing thoughts) and into my body so I can better experience the world around me. And when I do need to use my mind, my Practice has given me the ability to slightly increase the space between stimulus and response, which helps me to be less reactive, and more responsive.
