The true power of Gurbani is lost when its recitation in Gurdwaras is treated only as a formality without deeper understanding.
Spiritual life succeeds only for those who accept and follow the Guru's Command (Aagya), not merely for those who sing and listen.
Gurbani's purpose is to grant the knowledge of the soul (Aatma-Pramaatma), not to fulfill worldly wishes or function as a charm (jantar mantar).
It is regrettable that many preachers distort the Bani's true message by relying on external stories instead of pure, inner wisdom.
Only a rare, Guru-focused person (Gurmukh) truly contemplates the Bani, leading to self-realization and residence in the inner home (Nij Ghar Vasa).
The Divine Name (Naam) is understood and contemplated within the heart (Hirdai), as repeating it externally is not the essence of the teaching.
The Bani rejects severe ascetic practices and empty rituals, stating that these "futile acts" (Hath Karams) have no spiritual worth.
It is the Guru's knowledge (Gyan) that truly controls and disciplines the mind, mitigating the darkness of ignorance within the heart.
Individuals who disregard the Guru's wisdom are likened to barren sesame plants—worthless in the field—because they do not live in accordance with the Divine Command (Hukam).
