In 1856, Livingstone returned to Europe and began campaigning against the slave trade. His efforts helped to bring the issue to the attention of the public and the government, and contributed to the eventual abolition of the slave trade in Africa.

Livingstone continued his explorations of Africa until his death in 1873. He was buried in Westminster Abbey, a testament to the impact of his work and the respect that he had earned from his fellow countrymen. Livingstone's commitment to exploring and understanding Africa, as well as his tireless efforts to end the slave trade, have made him a symbol of courage, compassion, and dedication to human rights.
