Opal Suchata Miss World's visit to Liverpool - UK

WE in Liverpool were so honoured to have Opal Suchata Miss World has visited and Charlotte Grant, Miss England in her home City of Liverpool, in England. Their 1st stop was at Zoes (Little Lights) Baby Hospice, where they met the staff, nurses, the babies and their families. (Zoes Liverpool now LITTLE LIGHTS) They are the only baby-specific Hospice in UK, offering a highly professional Loving care service for babies aged:- 0 to 5 years with life-threatening or life-limiting illness. Accepting babies and their families for respite, palliative and end-of-life care. Zoe’s Place/Little Lights provides babies, young children and their families with a secure, relaxed, loving and homely environment in which their care, well-being and comfort are of prime importance.

Ensuring that a varied programme of play and activities for all babies and children is provided, including siblings

Using art, music, and complementary therapies to deliver a holistic approach to care for babies/children and families.

Offering support to the child and their family as they work through feelings about reaching the end of life, and planning around the palliative care they wish for during this time.

Caring for a child’s body after they have died and supporting families in the use of the ‘Bereavement Suite’, should they decide to use this facility.

Facilities provided will include physiotherapy, nursing care, medical care, music therapy, sibling support, support groups, bereavement care, social activities, counselling, education/training, housekeeping, multi-sensory rooms, complementary therapies and hydrotherapy.

As an observer, it was so emotional to see both Opal and Charlotte immediately engage with the medical staff and the babies and their families. They both showed such emotion when on a tour of the areas, such as the bereavement room, and then showed such happiness and love when playing on the floor in the play area with the babies /children. They reminded me of Lady Diana, who, when on such visits, would kneel down, forget she was a royal princess, and lovingly play/chat with children & families

After this emotional but memorable visit, their 2nd visit was to an awesome immersive Beyond Van Gogh exhibition, at the Liverpool ACC Exhibition Centre followed by a bus tour on City Sightseeing Tours Bus joined by the present and previous Miss Ireland. The tour was followed by afternoon tea at The Bentley overlooking the iconic waterfront. At the Bentley, where the Miss Liverpool City Region final will be held on Sunday, 21 September 2025, Opal will be presented with the finished large painting of her by Suzanne Bamber, who painted a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II when she was crowned Queen. Suzanne was invited to meet the Queen. A painting that was loved by the Queen and is still displayed within Buckingham Palace, in the King's private collection.

Opal is such a beautiful inner person as well as an outer beautiful, as is Charlotte. Their visit will always be remembered by all they met
