The Spirit to Stanley via the Tarkine Drive and the Edge of the World - Tassy Trip Day 1

Tasmania Day 1 – The Spirit to Stanley

We rode off the Spirit of Tasmania in Devonport at exactly 7am and headed for breakfast at Penguin. On our way to the west, we stopped by at Boat Harbour Beach which is highly rated for its white sand and its every shade of blue water.
Then we headed for the Tarkine Drive and the amazing Trowotta Arch which features a beautiful walk to the Arch.

The road surface was not in great condition with many potholes until we crossed the Tayatea Bridge. However, from that point the Tarkine Drive is a fantastic twisty ride with a non-stop assortment of various turns and a very good surface only hampered by a number of fallen leaves covering many parts of the road.

The Sumac Lookout was our next stop which was really for a drink as the lookout isn’t much. Stopping again at Arthur’s River — the Edge of the World which marks the longest continuous stretch of ocean (in the world) was rather stunning, wild and very windy.
We finished the ride back at Stanley, admiring that well known Nut and a few of the other sites.
