Our property is covered in Ponderosa Pine (Bull Pine / Yellow Pine), much of which we are going to be cutting down. It leaves a mess of pine needles and cones, which are fire hazards around the property, and it hinders the growth of grass. They also cause miscarriage in cattle (link attached below) .
There are half a dozen of them in an area we are fencing so we have to take them down before we start as it will be a very challenging/near impossible task later. It doesn't make the best firewood even though we do burn it if we have to but, it does makes decent lumber as long as it doesn't come in contact with dirt so we plan on milling them on our sawmill when we have time.
