Glacier National Park in the Treasure State - Montana.
We entered the park at the western entrance and made our way to Logan Pass via the spectacular Going-to-the-Sun Road. When we got to the parking lot at the Hidden Lake Trail, it was packed. We drove around the parking lot for 10 minutes, waiting for someone to leave. We found an alternate parking area with about 30 spaces about 1/2 mile away and found a car leaving the same time we pulled in. This added another mile to our hike, but we were happy we didn't have to wait any longer.
We packed up our fishing gear and hit the trail. About halfway, most people stop at the overlook of Hidden Lake, which is a wonderful view of the local mountain ranges and Hidden Lake. We continued another 1.5 miles down to Hidden Lake to look for the Westslope Cutthroat, which is known to inhabit the waters.
Along the hike, we encountered deer, marmot, squirrels, and Rocky Mountain Goats. The hike was tough in some spots, and definitely not a leisure walk in the park. There are certainly tougher hikes out there, but it's good for the intermediate hiker.
At the lake, we found some gorgeous Westslope Cutthroat, but they were picky. We landed some nice fish and sent them back on their way.
Filmed in August 2023.
