"When I sit on the floor, I cannot get up by myself." This is the daily reality for Mamoni Adhikari, who has been paralyzed since she was a year old. For her entire life, she has depended on her mother, Meera, for the most basic of needs—including being carried to the toilet. As her mother grew older, this simple act became a heartbreaking struggle for them both.
This is the incredible story of how one thoughtful, accessible toilet transformed their lives forever. With support from the PepsiCo Foundation and WaterAid, a toilet was designed specifically for Mamoni's needs, complete with support railings and easy access. For the first time, she can now use the bathroom with safety and dignity, all on her own.
"I had never in my dreams imagined that this would happen," Mamoni says, overwhelmed with emotion. Witness a profound story of a mother's love, a daughter's resilience, and how inclusive sanitation can restore independence and bring unimaginable joy.
