The 10-seed Hawks were able to put seven-seed BYU's centers in foul trouble most of the first half and foul them out in the second half, which led to a 9-0 run by Iowa, cutting the deficit to 54-47. But the Cougars were effective from 3-point range, finishing 10-of-23 from behind the arc. Iowa later cut the deficit to 3 points with 30 seconds left, but missed free throws were costly. Megan Skouby scored 19 points and Crystal Smith added 17 points.
