Hikes into Fitz Roy Mountains, Laguna Torre, Laguna de los Tres and Loma del Pliegue Tumbado

We stayed in El Chalten and had treks to Laguna Torre, Fitz Roy Mountains, Laguna de los Tres and Loma del Pliegue Tumbado.

On the 1st day we took a short hike to Laguna Torre. This 9 Km hike was an easy hike. The trail is well marked. You will be able to start the hike from the edge of town. On this hike you will see waterfalls and the Mirador del Cerro Torre. You can do this hike in 4 hours with no problem.

On the 2nd day we were picked up at the hotel and took us to the Lodge El Pilar where we started our hike into the Fitz Roy Mountains. This hike would be 18 km and would take most of the day. The hike will be taking us thru the valley of Rio Blanco. Where we would see Piedras Blancas Glacier and walking 1.5 hours to Rio Blanco Campsite. Then came the big climb 400 m in 1Km, this climb will take about an hour up the trail, then reaching Laguna de los Tres. We had lunch and then started our return to El Chalten hiking the trail to Laguna Capri.

On the 3rd Day we took a hike to the Loma del Pliegue Tumbado. This hike started near the visitor center in El Chalten. This is an easy climb for most of the hike. The last part is up hill and is the most strenuous part of the climb. Also, this will be the windiest part of the trail as no shelter is available, only rocks till the top.
