Wisconsin Report Card Standard Setting Testimonial - Tim Schell

In August, a group of 26 education leaders from across Wisconsin gathered to for a standard-setting to update performance benchmarks for state school and district report cards, aiming to ensure ratings remain fair, accurate, and meaningful. Despite changes in state law to the way data is measured, report cards had never underwent a formal standard setting since they were released in 2011-12.

The multi-day session in Madison focused on defining score ranges for the five rating levels. The panel's recommendations were submitted to State Superintendent Dr. Jill Underly for adoption and will be applied to the 2024-25 school year report cards.
