Nick Simmons—known online as “LiftingWeightsCleaningPlates”—is a UK-based food challenge content creator and one of the most disciplined eaters in the game.
We spent a full 24 hours with Nick during his trip to the northeast United States to document exactly what it takes to film a food challenge video from start to finish. Spoiler: it’s a lot more than just eating.
From early morning workouts and nonstop travel to juggling a full arsenal of camera gear and prepping his body for extreme calorie intake, Nick’s days are packed—and the food is only one small piece of it. Each video requires an intense amount of structure, effort, and strategy—especially when you’re filming several in a single week.
We followed Nick as he trained, prepped, traveled, filmed, and tackled one of his four U.S. food challenges—all while giving us a raw, honest look at the demands of balancing content creation with staying physically and mentally dialed in. We also sat down for a candid conversation where he opened up about his history with bodybuilding, living with ADHD, his gear-related anxiety at restaurants, and what drives his passion for long-form, fully authentic eating content.
