2013 Bennington Tornado Update and Storm Chasing Log

Update ** The NWS reduced the EF rating on this tornado to EF3 from its original EF4 rating that was based on DOW observations. Despite the lower rating, the NWS maintains that they believe this storm had EF4 winds of at least 166 mph, however, it just didn't have anything to cause that kind of damage to. Since the rating is based on a damage survey, and not measured wind speeds, it was officially downgraded. Details: https://www.ncdc.noaa.gov/stormevents...

2016 Tornado near Bennington

Almost three years later to the date, we watched another large wedge tornado develop from the exact same place where we parked during the 2013 Bennington Tornado. Unlike the 2013 tornado, the tornado in 2016 traveled several miles and unfortunately damaged some homes and structures.
