Bertsolaris are Basque singer poets who sing rhyming verses in the ancient Basque language. These singers are given topics and must create their lines in the moment. The art of bertsolaritza has grown more popular and has contributed to the survival of this minority language spoken by about 1 million people, mostly in the Basque Country of Spain and France.
These bertsolaris came to California in March 2025 and performed at Basque centers in San Francisco and Chino.
