The exhibition City at Sea: USS Intrepid explores life and work on board an aircraft carrier within the very spaces where crew members lived and worked. On Intrepid, new sailors were temporarily assigned to work on the mess deck. In this video, part of the City at Sea exhibition, crew members describe the role of these “mess cooks.”
