Ambush Reel 2 (1964)

Reel 2 01:20:38 The British platoon creep through the jungle. They see the Communist Terrorists at their camp. Waterfall is seen in the background. M/S of the CTs gathered around their campfire. C/U of the Commanding NCO showing his men their plan of action. He has made an illustration of their situation on the ground using matches and pieces of paper to represent the CTs position and their own. He details their plan of attack. One of the soldiers jokes about a box of matches. The corporal doesn't find the joke funny. They move closer to their target.



01:23:07 C/U of soldier creeping up on a CT sentry. He stabs and kills him. M/S of a CT cleaning his gun. Another CT laughs. Various shots of the British soldiers advancing. C/U of a CT standing up and pulling up his trousers. He spots one of the British soldiers who then shoots him. Battle breaks out, grenades are thrown and shots ring out. Various shots of the combat. British soldiers charge. One CT is shot and falls into the waterfall, we see his body falling through the water. Injured British soldier walks along holding his arm. Order given to "close the stops". Head of dead CT is lifted up then dropped. Men gather together in camp. Wounds are dressed and field telephone is used. The men joke with each other.



01:28:23 Helicopter arrives to take away the wounded. Stretcher is lowered. Narrator states the following: "The story you have just seen was based on action carried out in January 1964 by the officers and men of the 4th Royal Anglian Regiment, formerly the 1st Royal Leicestershire Regiment. It is typical of the modern army's duties in resisting aggression and protecting the free world."
