25 years ago, Dr. Peele was invited to participate on this ABC show.
What they needed was a debate, and for some schlub to take the ostensibly "fringe" position: "Addiction is Not A Disease".
Little did ABC (or the host) know, they would get Stanton Peele: one of the world's leading intellectuals in the addiction field.
Note how relevant Dr. Peele's key notes are today, many of which have become common-place (perhaps they even seem commonsensical at this point). But Peele has been a defender of such commonsense for decades, including the 90's, when this show was broadcast , and when his point of view was considered sacrilege by the mainstream.
