We kicked this trip off around 2pm, starting with a bit of daytime fishing while searching for new ground. It didn’t take long to find a few mixed species, including a longtail tuna that would later end up on the plate.
As the sun dropped, we moved onto some old, reliable night marks and found a few good fish — but the local sharks made things interesting. They managed to steal a couple, so we had to get smart and work around them to still bring fish up.
After a short 5-minute run, we fluked onto a new spot with no sharks, and that’s when the session really turned on. Fish stacked up under the boat, Jason landed a personal-best red emperor, and before long we were filling the Esky with quality fish. The weather stayed perfect all night, right up until the wind started to pick up just before the run home.
To wrap it all up, I take the longtail tuna from earlier in the day straight into the kitchen and put together a fresh Tuna Niçoise salad — a proper boat-to-plate finish.
If you enjoy real fishing sessions, day-to-night missions, problem-solving around sharks, and honest catch-and-cook content, this one’s for you.
